VISITING MASTER ARTIST - LEEANNE CRISP - PORTRAIT PAINTING WEEKEND

Enjoy a weekend workshop painting, with Leeanne Crisp acclaimed portrait painter and academic from Canberra.  Leeanne has work in the National Portrait Gallery and has been in many prizes including the Archibald and Portia Geach. This workshop is for anyone interested in portraits and painting.  It is constructed for people with any level of experience with activities that will develop both your understanding of the portrait and build skills in observing and translating what you see into engaging images. You will come away with practical skills but also a much deeper appreciation of the portrait as a form of communication. For those interested in entering the Doug Moran, the Archibald or the Shirley Hannan portrait prizes, this workshop will provide invaluable insights. Book soon, limited to 10 students only.

About the ArtistLeeanne Crisp is a full time visual artist and educator with 40 years experience. Her current projects embrace figurative, still life, landscape and portrait painting projects with an emphasis on pictorial structure as it relates to embodiment. Leeanne's interests range from art history and theory, art museum education, psychology, neurobiology, film, literature and increasingly -music.
Leeanne has a Master's degree in Painting from ANU and 8 solo shows (Canberra Museum and Gallery, ANU, Solander, Tynte St, CAS Sth Australia) and over sixty group exhibitions. These include Archibald and Dobell Drawing Prizes at the AGNSW, Portia Geach National Women's Portrait Prize(4 times), Blake Prize for Religious Art, National Portrait Gallery 'Sampling recent Australian Portraiture' for the opening of Commonwealth Place and 'Masters of Fare', The Alice Prize, Chapman Gallery, ANCA and M16 studios. Work is in The National Library Visual Collection, The National Portrait Gallery Canberra, Canberra Writers Centre and Adelaide University Students Union. She has won the Tuggeranong Art Prize, The ANU Drawing Prize. She is the recipient of an Arts ACT grant.
Residencies include, Michaelis Art school Cape Town (1998) and Bundanon (3 times). Leeanne has curated shows for both the Academy of Science (Canberra) and Works on Paper exhibitions between Cape Town and Canberra, touring to Poland.
2011 Winner John Copes Watercolour Prize, In EMSLA Still Life Prize Coffs Harbour, Portrait Artists Australia Exhibition Melbourne.
